Auckland Domain
These photos were taken in the Auckland Domain, which is the park like area surrounding the Auckland Museum. There are hothouses for the tropical plants, a fern section and various ponds among other things.
The Corpse Flower
I took these photos of the Corpse Flower on the morning of the 2nd of December 2013 about 36 hours after it had first opened - it's only supposed to be open for about 48 hours. Apparently when I was there the smell wasn't nearly as bad as it had been the previous day - it smells of rotting meat, but there was still a noticable smell if you stood in certain areas. I thought it was a general "something crawled under a hedge and died" type smell, rather than the over poweringly bad smell I have heard it described as.
