"Central City - Auckland"
I am trying to make a point of taking a few photos every day, so I am going to take photos of things I think are interesting around the central city in Auckland when I am there. Including works of art like the statures that are around the city.

Huia
This is painted on the wall outside of the Britomart train station. The Huia is a New Zealand bird that went extinct in the 20th century.

This is in Fort Lane, which is close to the Britomart train station and the ferry terminal. It was painted by TMD – he has signed it @Benjaminwork as well.

These are in the Britomart Shopping centre, which is right next to the main train station in the central city.

These are in part of the shopping centre in the Britomart centre in the central city, which is next to the ferry terminal and a block down from the main train station.

Aspiration
This is a statute, (obviously :) ), called Aspiration" and was made by Roderick Burgess. It's on Upper Lorne Street, which is just up from the central city public library.

This sculpture is called "Nobody Here But Us" and was made by Richard Deaco in 1991.
Elliot Street Steps
This is painted on the steps that lead to what was the back of the Mid City Cinema.

These dogs are outside the University of Otago House on Queen Street.
Maori Mural
This mural is by S. Duffell and is on part of a shop wall next to a tattoo shop on K Road. S. Duffell is also known as ghstie, (his newest website is http://seanduffell.com/).

Homage to Will
This is a sculpture called "Homage to Will" and is by Fred Loopstra. It is in Victoria Park, which is just outside the central city in Auckland.
BMD Mural - Victoria Park
This mural was done on a wall facing a pack lot behind the Caltex that is opposite Victoria Park in the city. It's by BMD - bmdisyourfriend.com.
This is the same artist(s) who did the art work on the Cat Cargo Container, that was on The Cloud at the end of last year (2013).

This sculpture is called "Gateway" and is by Chris Booth. It's on the bottom of Albert Park in the central city and can be seen from Queen Street.

Disruptive Mural
This mural ws painted in 2002 and is opposite the Auckland Public Hospital, which is about a five to ten minute walk from the end of Queen Street. The url at the very top of this mural is disruptive.com, but that is no longer valid and re-directs to a company :(
K Road Power Boxes
These two boxes are about 30 seconds walk from each and are just to the left on K Road as you come up from Queen Street.

Fort Lane Streetart
There are small individual pieces of street art, and graffiti, down Fort Lane. Fort Lane is one of the short mainly pedestrian streets running next to Queen Street with mainly night clubs, restaurants and cafes on it.

This is in Grey Lynn, which admittedly is just out of the central city and was painted by Paul Walsh.

High Street Fence
This is the new paintings on the building site in High Street. Unfortunately someone has already damaged it :( The pages with the two earlier versions of this fence can be found High Street Building Site Fence and the first version is Artwork on Building Site Fence.

Owl
This owl is on the side of the building that houses two theatre companies – "A Bar A Theatre A Community" and "The Basement Theatre". It's just off Aotea Square.

Painted Window
This is a painting of a window on the back of the old theatre in what appears to one of the unused windows. It is across the road from the Auckland Public Library in the central city, the Potted Trees are in this area too.

Fantail and Pigeon Sculpture
This is a new sculpture that is across the road from the Auckland Art Gallery and is just off Queen Street. It replaces the original Fantail Sculpture that was taken down in early 2014.

Movie Theatre Graffiti
This graffiti is on top of the old movie theatre in the middle of Queen Street. My photos were taken through a third story window I couldn’t open across the road from the theatre.

Storage Building
This is the paintings on the outside of a storage building on Hudson Street in central Auckland. It is right next to the huge mural painted in 2000, which covers the America’s cup racing (?) and Maori legends.

Marine Birds
This is on the back of a cargo container on the public area of the wharf and is called "Marine Birds". It was painted by Elliot Francis Stewart, who also painted "A Wee Drop".
