Art Week 2017
14th October 2017
"Art Week 2017"
Like previous years a lot of events are lectures and/or walks rather than displays. The Auckland Art Gallery’s show that is an official part of this art week was their paid show and the Maritime museum also had a show called knot touch.
Previous Art Week pages can be found - Auckland Art Week 2016, Auckland Art Week 2015, Auckland Art Week 2014 and Auckland Art Week 2013.
Devonport - Daytime
These are just a few photos I took the day before the Devonport shows started as they were setting up the show in the park across the road from the Devonport Library. I think the pictures of the bamboo structures show up a lot better in these photos than they do in the ones I took the next evening.
Devonport - Nighttime
The Devonport lights show has been getting significantly better each year, with the addition this year of dancers on costumes that were covered in lights who moved through the crowds stopping in places to dance.
High Street
K Road
The K Rd displays have been getting worse with each passing year unfortunately, as there have been fewer shops with art work for art week in their windows with each year. The biggest this year was the BNZ on K Rd, which had always had a display in its window in previous years, had closed down before this year's art week.
Wynyard Quarter
There were a series of displays along the Wynyard Quarter of photos taken by the general population of the areas they live in. I decided not to take any photos of those displays and all of the photos below are from the display called "Shifting Ground" in the Silo Park at the end of the Wynyard Quarter.
