Christmas 2014
21st November 2014
"Christmas 2014"
Smith & Caughey Windows
Smith & Caughey is the big department store part of the way up Queen Street, which has a Christmas story set out in its windows every year. The 2014 windows are a pirate version of the "12 Days of Christmas".
Farmers' Santa
This is the Santa that used to be on the old Farmers' department store in the central city in Auckland, but is now on the large Whitcoulls store on Queen Street instead. It wasn't going to go up this year due to budget cuts at the council, until a number of different companines donated enough money to cover repairing the Santa and putting it all up.
The Elliott Street Angels
Elliot Street is one of the short side streets running parallel to Queen Street, on the opposite side of Queen Street than High Street.
Christmas Boxes
Four of the five boxes were exactly the same as last year's ones, but the one with the jandels in it was brand new and replaced a box that had been decorated with those glass balls you put on Christmas Trees.
Tree of Bikes
Currently I have only taken photos of this during daylight, so it doesn't look that good. I am planning on going back and taking some photos after dark, once they've turned the lights on, on Friday the 28th November 2014.Update:- This was taken down more than a week before Christmas day, meaning I never got the chance to take some photos of at nighttime :(
Britomart
These are the decorations in some of the Britomart shopping area. Most were standard so I didn't take any photos, but I did really like the "Santa takes an elfie" decoration in one shops window :)
