I actually enjoyed this book a lot more than I did the first one in this series! It has more of a plot, in particular through two of the three doors Roland goes through which I liked. Despite this it was not a standard plot at all.
It was well written and interesting. The stories of what happens when he goes through the three doors are well done, the longer first and third ones in particular are engaging.
This book actually lives up to all of the hype I’ve heard about the Dark Tower series, which was difficult given all of the praise I have heard about it.
