For the most part I really enjoyed this book, though it did become weaker near the end – in particular a lot standing around giving speeches that go too long. There was slightly too much reliance on magic to solve certain problems, which was sort of forgivable given the setting but to me the bridge scene near the end just felt as if it could have been left out completely and the story would have been better.
I did really like that he bought the Watch back for this book, even though they really aren’t major characters and it was done in a way that made sense to include them in the story line. Overall I did enjoy this book.
