"One Thousand Monsters"

I really enjoyed this book, which is part of his Anno Dracula series – where Dracula and other vampires from various books are all real and in the 1880s Dracula married Queen Victoria. It’s set after the first book in 1899, and the story line in this story leads onto another book set in 1999 that is due to come out in October 2019.

The fact that I couldn’t remember much from the first book didn’t matter much as this this a mostly self-contained book that only follows two of the characters from the rest of books as they end up in Japan after being run of the UK by Dracula with a larger group of Vampires who have met the same fate. They end up arranging a 100 year agreement with Japan so that most of the Western Vampires get to stay, which leads to the second book and the end of that agreement.

The only thing is that the story would lose a bit if you haven’t read the first book in the series at least, as it assumes the reader understands the background with the vampires have come to light in the west and what Dracula did in general to accomplish this.
