"Midnight Crossroad"
By: Charlaine Harris

I am pleased that I accidently read "Day Shift" – which is the second book in this series and this is the first – before I read this one as I definitely enjoyed it more. This book had a slow set up as it was bringing a new resident into the town and introducing all of the characters, with a simplistic plot that had important action happening before the book started and only felt as if it got started over half way into this book. The reveal with Mr. Snuggles also felt a touch forced, but then I already knew what it was from the second book which didn't help.

It did improve as the book went and hopefully "Day Shift" shows that this series as a whole is an improvement on the first book. It is still a light and easy read.
